Start with every relevant floor
Use an existing plan or a legible sketch. Mark rooms, doors, windows, stairs and the entrance. Keep the proportions as accurate as you can. Label existing and proposed layouts separately. Do not combine multiple floors into a single unlabeled image.
Keep north and facing separate
A north arrow tells the reader how the drawing is oriented. It does not by itself decide the Feng Shui facing of the home. Supply any compass readings with the place and method used to obtain them. Magnetic interference can affect a reading; do not invent a precise angle from an uncertain measurement. The consultant establishes the assessment basis.
Add the building history you know
Give the construction year, major renovation history and your move-in year separately. If you do not know, say so. Moving into a building is not automatically the same as establishing its original period. Important gaps need clarification before the relevant chart is calculated.
Show the important furniture
Mark a headboard, stove and everyday desk when possible. Add photographs if a diagram is unclear. Describe what cannot move, such as built-in cabinetry or a fixed kitchen. You do not need to provide a full family birth history for the initial preparation check.
For the surroundings review
Collect a map or satellite view, the location of the home, a north reference, and photographs of the entrance and principal views. Apartment residents should include floor level and distinguish their own entrance from the building entrance. Do not send ownership documents or identity documents.
